Henry Molesworth Oxley

Henry Molesworth Oxley was the younger son of the explorer John Oxley (1784-1828), who had served in several official positions including Surveyor General of NSW. Although John Oxley himself never lived here, he sent his two sons to establish sheep and cattle farming in the area. After John’s death, Henry received a large land grant near Bowral in honour of their father, covering much of Burradoo today. John Oxley had been elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly for Camden, where he is buried.
