Welcome

Christ Church Bong Bong is part of the Parish of Moss Vale, alongside St John’s Anglican Moss Vale, Holy Trinity Berrima and St Thomas’ High Range.

Our gatherings at Bong Bong reflect a warm, traditional, evangelical style of Anglican worship – centred on God’s word, grounded in prayer and marked by joyful praise. We are a community that seeks to know Jesus, grow in his grace and make Him known in the Southern Highlands and beyond.

Whether you are exploring faith or looking for a church family, we warmly invite you to join us as we gather around God’s word each week.

Christ Church Bong Bong

Christ Church is the oldest Church in the highlands, built and financed by Charles Throsby Jnr and consecrated by Bishop Broughton in 1845. Charles inherited a large land grant from his uncle, Dr. Charles Throsby who received the original grant in 1821 in recognition of his early explorations.

The Church and Briars Inn are all that remain from Bong Bong Village, the first settlement in the highlands in 1821. The Church carries heritage listings at National, State and Local levels, and the Cemetery contains the history of the early pioneers and townsfolk.
